Much like the 1920's ladies style, yet the 40's/50's took the style of dresses and underwear and made it a lot sexier.
The term 'Pin-Up' came about in the UK in the early 1940's, this was down too Burlesque performers and actresses that used photos to advertise themselves within the industry, creating the 'Pin-Up' girl look.
It becoming even more renowed through actresses such as 'Bettie Page' and 'Betty Grable'
Burlesque has been around long before the 1940s and was even known during the prohibition era of the 20's. It's an act/caberet of usually the female strip-tease, and is put in the modern day as to be a bit 'classier' than usual stripping due to the nature of it and it being more of a theatrical act rather than brutally just women taking there clothes off, as famous pin-up lady 'Dita Von Teese' has gone on to show the world!
